Beyond the Rain
by Weldon Payne

Beyond the Rain is fiction focusing on the plight of two women: Edna Marie King,
whose personal hopes and desires have been put on hold, and her aging mother who,
suffering with dementia, is solely dependent upon her daughter.
Mama King's other son and daughter live away and turn a deaf ear to Edna's distress.
Then Johnny Scoggins' truck breaks down nearby and this young veteran of Viet Nam
brings a glimmer of hope to Edna's despair. As Mama's dependency worsens, Edna
learns something of the depths and the challenges of love, and discovers strength
for a decision she hoped never to make.
